Product Description
Yet another thirty year-old Port Ellen, bottled by Douglas Laing for their old and rare - Platinum Selection, 1978 vintage and has been bottled at cask strength in 2008.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose this Port Ellen opens surprisingly light and fresh for its age whilst bringing a suggestion of cookies-in-the-oven, then some delicate smoke character with a coastal and oceanic aroma.
The palate is chewy and mouthcoatingly oily developing to that same sweet smoke character.
The finish is still delicately smoky with burnt orange peel, burning candles and late, late peat.
