Product Description
Being produced in limited quantities by the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. It is much more heavily peated than the ‘standard’ Springbank, however, and is easily mistaken for an Islay. The latest expression to be released spent eight years maturing in refill sherry and bourbon casks before being filled into wood which had previously held the sweet Hungarian dessert wine Tokaji for a further two years of maturation. The result is a decidedly different Longrow, powerful on the nose, initially sweet, with wood adhesive notes, dark treacle and peat. Big and bold in the mouth, oily, early gummy sweetness, with a hint of Cointreau. It is most obviously a Longrow in its later stages on the palate, where drying peat and soot notes develop and linger long.
